Bromelia Aechmea Fasciata

Urn Plant

Commonly referred to as the silver vase plant, the urn plant, or Aechmea fasciata, has silver streaks on the leaves that form a vase. A flower stalk appears in the center during spring with light blue flowers that eventually turn to a dark rose color surrounded by a cluster of pinkish bracts. Part of the Bromeliaceae (bromeliad) family and native to Brazil. Silver urn grows well as a houseplant anywhere and will flourish for years indoors when given essential care.

Care Info:
Place the silver vase in a location with bright indirect sunlight. Keep the plant in an area with good air circulation, but away from cold or hot drafts.
Watering:
Keep the tank or vase created in the center of the urn plant filled with rainwater at all times. Flush this water often to keep it fresh. Water the plant until you see water in the drainage tray when the top inch of soil dries.
Light:
Place the silver vase in a location with bright indirect sunlight.
Ideal Indoor Temp:
Room temperature is the best: Somewhere between seventeen and twenty-three degrees Celcius
